Goal:

Introduce the emotional and musical side of violin playing beyond just correct notes.

🎯 Topics:

• Vibrato Introduction (Optional)

  • Only introduce if student is ready (good hand position and finger flexibility).

  • Demonstrate arm vs. wrist vibrato.

  • Try “vibrato prep” exercises (rolling finger on string).

• Dynamics (Loud/Soft)

  • Introduce:

    • Forte (f) – full bow, near bridge

    • Piano (p) – light bow, near fingerboard

  • Practice crescendo (gradually louder) and decrescendo

• Playing Expressively

  • Encourage phrasing (play like you speak)

  • Demonstrate how dynamics and tempo changes create mood

  • Use simple melodies (like “Twinkle”) with expressive variation
